single stream

In support of Frederick County, the Authority procured single stream recycling processing capacity.  Frederick County collects approximately 24,000 tons per year of single stream recyclables.  The materials are brought to the Frederick County transfer station and loaded into transfer trailers that are taken to the Waste Management Recycle America facility in Elkridge, Maryland.  Here the material is sorted, both mechanically and manually at the Facilities, to produce clean streams of materials that can be sent to market.  For more information about Recycle America, Inc. please visit their website.
