who we are

The Authority is a multi-county agency that provides support to our member jurisdictions related to solid waste.  Our unique structure allows us to respond quickly to the needs of our jurisdictions to expedite procurement and permitting of projects. We understand and are responsive to local concerns about waste management, because the Authority’s Board of Directors is comprised of representatives from each of eight participating jurisdictions.

Board of Directors are recommended by the Executive branch of each Member Jurisdiction and then appointed by the Governor for four-year terms. The Director of the Maryland Environmental Service serves as an ex officio member.
